Arts and Crafts Fairs

31st Annual - July 9 & 10 2005

This widely popular 2-day event attracts 8,000 - 10,000 people each year.

Admission is free. Art-In-The-Park is open to the public Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Community Arts

Public Art Committee:

The Public Art committee's mission is to establish an ongoing program to produce, support and display works of art in places that are accessible to the public in a manner that will enhance the aesthetic value of the site and contribute to the quality of the cultural life in Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley. Special collaborative projects have been developed to establish public art programs at the Steamboat Ski Area and the Yampa Valley Medical Center.

The Friday Film Series takes place each fall and winter, with a series of free films (donations encouraged) presented at Centennial Hall (10th & Oak) at 7:00 pm on selected Friday evenings. The Friday Film Series is supported by several sponsors in addition to the Film Guild. Film Guild membership is available for a contribution of $150 and offers 2 reserved seats at each show. Please contact us for information on becoming a Film Guild member to support this popular program.

Please check our Events Calendar for upcoming Friday Film Series dates and feature presentations.

Handel's Messiah:
A holiday favorite, the Arts Council presents this free annual concert in collaboration with the Yampa Valley Community Chorus and members of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra.

Special Events/Fundraising

This fall fund raiser for the Steamboat Springs Arts Council is a unique blend of wine/beer tasting and culinary art, with a silent auction. The 2003 Pour les Arts was held at Mahogany Ridge and featured entertainment by the The Wayfarers. Please check our Events Calendar for information on the upcoming Pour les Arts.

September 17, 2005

The annual Steamboat Studios Art & Culture Tour takes participants on a self-guided tour of working artists' studios. Each year focuses on a different geographic area of the Yampa Valley, offering an opportunity to interact with our local artists and learn a bit of cultural history along the way. This year's tour will cover Town and The Mountain. The tour includes a visit to a local historic site, a cooperative fine art exhibit and silent auction, entertainment and refreshments. Participants start the day with a
gourmet continental breakfast where they pick up the map of featured artists' studios and cultural sites. Participants then visit the studios and sites at their leisure, with a designated stop for lunch along the way.

Ticket prices include breakfast and lunch. For reservations or information, please call us at 970.879.9008.

July 30 - August 14, 2005

This one-of-a-kind festival, held in August, pushes the boundaries of what some might consider art—creative dog houses and decorated "art cars" are part of the mix, right alongside a juried fine art exhibit, opera performances and a symphony concert. Eclectic is the theme of this unique festival, which offers art and entertainment for all tastes and pocketbooks. Click here for more info.

Cabaret
May 4, 5, & 6 2005

Held each spring, this sell-out local comedy review show is generally about poking fun at ourselves through political humor. Beginning in 2004, the show is held at the Steamboat Grand Resort. Tickets go on sale in late March for Arts Council members, and on April 1 for the general public.
