Beaux Arts Festival Strada D'Arte Event

Strada D'Arte is a traditional form of Italian street painting - artists would cover church courtyards with renderings of the Madonna and other religious scenes. For the Beaux Arts Festival, artists will design and decorate a concrete square (either 3'x3' or 6'x6') using ground pastel chalk. This is typically a full-day project. The event will take place in August 2005 as part of the Beaux Arts Festival. Interested artists who want a chance to show off their talent and imagination should call the Arts Council (970.879.9008) for information and to be put on the contact list.

Exhibits in The Depot Gallery

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council presents SummerArt 2005, a multi-media, juried fine art exhibit, July 1 – August 28, 2005

Categories include pastel/oil painting, water media, drawing/printmaking, mixed media, photography, and multi-dimensional pieces artwork, from approximately 60 artists from all over the United States. Ben Mitchell, the director of exhibitions & programs at the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming, is this year’s exhibit judge and will award cash prizes for best of show, best in each category and merit awards.

Gallery Talk with the artists

September 3, 9:00 – 10:30am

Artwork must be 12” x 12”, no bigger…no smaller (not including frame). 3D work must fit in a 12” square cube, with at least one dimension being 12”. All work must have been completed in the last 12 months. (We are trying to challenge artists to make new work, specifically for this show.) No entry fee, no jury.

Beyond Fibers: New Forms

An international juried exhibit of work created with fiber materials or using traditional fiber processes.

Exhibit judge: Alice Zrebiec, Consulting Curator of Textile Art for the Denver Art Museum.
