Welcome to the Steamboat Springs Arts Council!
Established in 1972, the Steamboat Springs Arts Council is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to art and cultural programming, and an advisor and advocate for over 30 AFFILIATE local arts organizations. Housed in the historic train Depot along the Yampa River at the west end of town, we manage The Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot with two visual arts GALLERIES and a community arts & culture Resource Center.
Mission: Recognizing that a vibrant community is defined by its commitment to the arts, the Steamboat Springs Arts Council provides innovative, creative and diverse experiences. For 36 years the Steamboat Springs Arts Council (SSAC), a 501(c)(3), has served Steamboat Springs with leadership and dynamic educational arts and humanities programs. The City has recognized the role of SSAC by designating it “the official arts agency of the City of Steamboat Springs”. SSAC is also recognized and supported by members, artists, affiliate organizations and the State of Colorado.
SSAC works diligently to create and coordinate a wide variety of arts activities that meet the ever-changing needs of the growing community. SSAC manages the Depot as a multi-use public facility, and develop cost-effective marketing and PR opportunities that benefit the arts and community at large. It is our passion and responsibility to ensure that the arts grow in ways that are meaningful and beneficial to the community. We are an economic driver and can be even more so with a strategic approach to growth of the arts, and we’re working on that now. To extend the benefits SSAC collaborates with the City, CMC, local schools, and affiliates to produce cost-effective local programming. SSAC also works to attract arts visitors who enjoy the same types of artistry and performances as do our residents. We are proud to support the community, individual artists and arts organizations.
