A chance discovery of a little-known group of Texas pictographs transformed an abiding concern into a serious involvement recording and preserving ancient rock art in Texas. To make her works as authentic as possible, M.D. makes her own paints. She grinds the ingredients in a 500-year-old stone mortar, washes the pigments out by hand, and uses specific binders to insure the permanence of each color. The results are strikingly faithful to the originals, as well as exceptionally durable.
