Community Programs

Re-Granting Program

Grant Application Deadline: Friday, September 7th, 2007
Grant Awards Announced: Monday, September 17th, 2007

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council in Cooperation with the Yampa Valley Community Foundation and the City of Steamboat Springs, will grant funds in the area of Art in Culture in the Summer 2007. The Community Committee on the Arts will review all proposals. The Re-Granting Program is offered to help expand the scope of cultural activities and services in Routt County . Grants are given to organizations and individuals to strengthen and improve the quality of programming and presentation. Any organization currently receiving program or operational support from the City of Steamboat Springs will not be eligible.
Grants will be awarded in the following areas: Organization Development, Project Development/Organization, Project Development/Individual & Individual Artist Fellowship

Summer Arts Immersion Program

Kaleidoscope Art Exploration for Kids programs will begin sessions beginning mid-June and run through August. The Steamboat Springs Arts Council in partnership with Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation, offering art sessions for children ages 6 – 12.

These summer programs offer an incredible opportunity for children with working parents to develop creatively and be productive during the long summer break. Kaleidoscope art programs focus on performance art and all ranges of fine art, including three-dimensional work, mixed media, painting, drawing and pastels. Kids just love getting messy and tapping into their inner artistic genius!

Three sessions are being offered for 1st grade through 6th grade. Registration is conducted by the Steamboat Springs Parks and Rec Dept.

Featured Events

8th Annual Artists Studio Tour

August


The annual Steamboat Studios Art & Culture Tour takes participants on a self-guided tour of working artists' studios. Each year focuses on a different geographic area of the Yampa Valley, offering an opportunity to interact with our local artists and learn a bit of cultural history along the way. 2007's tour covered west Routt County including West Steamboat and Hayden. Participants started the day at the Depot at 9 a.m. with a wonderful breakfast and picked up the map of featured artists' studios.
Participants then visited 18 artists in 13 studio locations with a designated stop for lunch along the way. Ticket prices included breakfast and a discounted lunch.




25th Anniversary of Cabaret

May 15, 16, & 17 2008

Held each Spring, this popular fundraiser and local comedy revue is generally about poking fun at ourselves through political humor. We are pleased to announce that this year’s show will be hosted by our newest affiliate the Steamboat Springs Mountain Theater Company.


Arts and Crafts Fairs


34th Annual Art in the Park

July 12 & 13 2008





This annual arts and crafts fair is held in West Lincoln Park during Rainbow Weekend. Over 140 artisans offer unique, hand-crafted items made from wood, metal, clay, leather, fiber, and glass, plus fine art, jewelry, sculpture, photography, and more. Art-In-The-Park maintains its unique status by limiting eligibility to artists and craftpersons who display work entirely of their own original concept, design and execution. Event highlights include free live entertainment - music, dance, children's theatre and more - children's activities, plus a variety of refreshment booths. This widely popular 2-day event attracts 8,000 - 10,000 people each year.


Admission is free. Art-In-The-Park is open to the public Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Christmas in the Rockies
December 8th 2007



This annual arts and crafts show has a Christmas theme, with vendors offering holiday gift and decor items. 1,500 people attend this annual event, held in early December.

This annual holiday market features local and regional artisans selling their handmade goods, including jewelry, fiber, ceramics, fine art and so much more! Come to this unique artisan’s market to jumpstart your holiday shopping and get in the spirit. You are sure to find that unique handmade gift for everyone on your list, and you’ll probably walk away with a gift or two for yourself!
